You helped your client find their dream home, now here comes the hard part—moving. As a real estate agent, you’ve seen a lot of moving days and you know how stressful they can be. And as the trusted resource your clients have relied on for their entire home buying journey, your recommendations and support go a long way.
Here are five ways you can help create a safe, secure and seamless moving experience for your clients.
Moving can be overwhelming, especially if not properly planned. To ease your client’s mind, provide them with a moving checklist. This list will help keep them on track and will ensure they don’t wait until the last second to get important tasks done.

When your clients move with Allied, they have the opportunity to give back while decluttering. If your clients have any furniture, clothes or pantry items that they don’t want to move to their next home, Allied provides an easy way to donate these items and give back to their community.
Through Allied’s partnership with The Salvation Army, your clients can schedule for lightly used furniture and clothing to be picked up free of charge and donated to their local Salvation Army store. All items purchased directly fund adult rehab programs that change lives and restore families.
Allied is also partnered with Move for Hunger, an organization that enables our customers to donate any unwanted pantry items to their local food pantry. Your clients can reduce their moving load while feeding a family in need.
Even if you’re moving from a small space, packing tends to always take longer than expected. Encourage your clients to start packing early and share tips on how to pack properly. Check out Allied’s Room by Room Packing Guide for helpful packing tips.
You can help make the packing process a little easier by creating a packing toolkit for your client. Include items like colored sharpies, newspaper, trash bags and packing tape. Your client will be grateful for your thoughtfulness!
While your client will be working to familiarize themselves with the new area, you can help them by providing a list of reliable service providers. If you know your client is looking to take on some home improvement projects, recommend a local painter, electrician or contractor. Help ease them into their new community through referrals they can trust.
Who doesn’t love a friendly housewarming gift? Help your client feel at home from the start by creating a “welcome home” gift basket. This will be a nice little surprise for your client when they first step into their new home. Include thoughtful items, like coffee for their first morning and a cute keychain for their new house keys. Also include items that will help make the transition to their new home easier like paper towels, toilet paper, soap and cleaning supplies.
Moving can be a stressful time. Use these tips to help create a positive experience for your client’s moving day, helping you create meaningful relationships while getting your clients excited for this new chapter!
